Aki Nagasaka

北海道大学総合博物館で開催される夏の展覧会「藻類の時間軸ー私たちの始まりへー」において、映像＆彫刻のインスタレーション作品「カムイワッカへ、そして私たちの始まりへ」を展示します。2018年に制作、展示された作品を、今回は歴史的建造物である北海道大学博物館の展示空間、そして藻類をテーマにした今展覧会に合わせて再構成し、展示します。今展覧会は科学と美術の領域を横断しながら、藻類を軸とした地球史、そして日本の藻類学の歴史の描写を試みます。

I will participate in the exhibition “To Our Beginnings: Time Traveling through Algae” at the Hokkaido University Museum and exhibit my video and sculpture combined installation work “To the Kamuy-Wakka, To the Spring of Eukaryotes”. The work was exhibited in 2018 for the first time and it will be re-configured this time to fit to the  historical building of the museum and this exhibition that focuses on algae. By using both approaches of science and art, the exhibition will attempt to tell the histories of Earth as well as algology in Japan through algae.
